We've cracked the code.

Change is complex. Consistency is rare. We make both a habit.

Strategy doesn't have to be perfect - it just needs to be sound. Research shows companies on average deliver only 63% of the financial performance their strategies promise. The research clearly identifies the problem of failing to control the execution variable. Motere Consulting provides services to a wide variety of organizations. From the financially sound to the distressed, the operationally aligned to the dysfunctional, middle market firms to multi-national corporations, our role is to help clients recognize problem areas, restore value and rebuild the foundation of organizational equilibrium. The end result is financial performance consistency.

Today’s business environment presents both opportunity and risk. Motere Consulting identifies the subtle differences that separate the two, sometimes indiscernible paths. Clarity, dependability and value creation direct our thinking and behavior. We provide breakthrough strategies that provide measurable results - solutions that affect the bottom line. We determine our success simply: has the client met their goal of increased profits? To get there requires expertise. Our clients average 115% improvement in financial performance with a zero failure rate.

Management Assessment

image2

Motere identifies, measures and develops the primary leadership trait responsible for value creation, which our proprietary model  is based. Leaders who apply the model demonstrate the judgment to do the right thing – leaders who get the job done with integrity and inspire others to fully commit to the task, mission and vision. They not only set the strategy, they implement the plan and engage others to assist them.

Management Development

image3

Of the three processes of execution - strategy, operations and people - the third presents the greatest risk and greatest reward. Motere provides an empirical foundation, then dives deeply into application. A parallel system is employed to develop managers from the inside-out while simultaneously applying tools, frameworks, models and coaching to solve problems from an outside-in approach to meet the needs of clients and stakeholders.

Management Assessment

image4

Motere provides third party independent behavioral analyses of multiple dimensions for strategic execution that manage risk through human capital. Using a battery of valid psychological inventories, Motere’s proprietary analyses accurately measures leaders' primary behavioral competencies solving the strategy/execution paradox. While being foundational to all other leadership competencies, the core competency centers on one's ability to affect change and execute strategy. Our analyses turn uncertainty into calculable risk.

The HPLi Report measures a person's ability to execute strategy consistently to the best of their ability. Research has shown that a person's potential is less indicative of high performance than the degree to which a person is capable of developing their inherent potential.

The Social Trust Analysis reveals the effects of  performance belief systems have on employees and other stakeholders. Any and all organizational initiatives are compromised when ineffective belief systems are inadvertently transferred.

The Leadership Execution Analysis generates results for eight components of execution. Managers who master the skills of execution deliver commitments and adapt to change effectively.

The Executive Presence Report provides an understanding of managerial tendencies. Leaders with a strong degree of Executive Presence are able to balance two critical dimensions: time and focus. Leaders who successfully balance these two critical dimensions consistently deliver results, execute strategy, drive change and build effective cultures.

The Organizational Health Evaluation measures managerial capability for the three primary areas of organizational health. Leadership dictates culture, which drives execution.

Management Team Execution

Culture beats strategy every time, and execution is the foundation effective cultures are built. People are a risk factor. As the degree of risk increases, so does the degree of consequence. Motere equips clients with a mechanism to manage risk successfully through a comprehensive approach to controlling and leveraging the human factor. Motere's consulting services and educational workshops provide the tools and strategies required to execute strategy consistently.

Succession Planning

With many organizations becoming ever more intricate, management succession is a primary stakeholder risk because bench strength remains a stubborn problem. In a future that is increasingly difficult to predict which leaders will recognize opportunity in volatility, spot patterns in complexity, find creative solutions to problems, be mindful of long term strategic goals, and hold onto uncertainty until the optimum time to make a decision, Motere supports organizational stability and sustainability. We ensure an established process with disciplined execution by identifying executives who effectively transition to more responsible leadership positions. Research proves CEOs appointed from the inside tend to outperform outsiders.

Executive Coaching

Bottlenecks. Plateaus. Softening. These words describe an executive’s most frustrating issue - tolerating mediocrity. Something that may appear to be only a small flaw, unnoticed at an earlier stage, becomes a monumental barrier as one rises toward greater responsibility and visibility. The challenges are subtle and elusive. Motere Consulting leverages the human capital of our clients  to gain the greatest ROI on the financial capital investment. We provide an execution approach where leaders are taught how to expose reality and act on it through tools, strategies and skills. The most important job of leadership is to deliver commitments through people. It starts with adopting an execution mindset where leaders confront the issues paving the way for consistency, growth and high performance. We help clients bridge the gap between intention and action.

Change Management

Constructive change occurs at the the cellular level. Research shows that over 70% of transformation efforts fail primarily due to a lack of successful behavior change. Motere addresses the two most powerful forces in human nature: Stability and Change.  Our "Pebble-in-the-Pond" method helps managers connect the past with the future, identify what needs to change and what needs to continue, control what contributes to consistency and what contributes to transformation. Our system helps organizations accelerate its sense of progress and achievement while maintaining its sense of stability and directedness. By analyzing these aspects, Motere Consulting provides measurable solutions positively impacting the bottom line.

image11

Organizational Health

More than being free from disease, Motere's Organizational Health program provides the foundation for consistent execution. By examining multiple factors, Motere takes companies from being merely functional to high performing. We show leaders how to tap into natural forces and make them work for the company. Regardless of the industry, organizational life holds a natural quality where things happen under the first wave of consciousness. Motere brings those things into focus by challenging the status quo, then translating confusing and complex events into concepts that everyone understands.

The Center for Human Performance & Leadership

image12

Stemming from Dr. Long's work of Strategic Execution, Performance Plateaus, High Performance and Choking Under Pressure, The Center for Human Performance & Leadership provides the tools for change and consistency.

Achieving consistent Strategic Execution doesn't occur out of thin air — it results  from effective learning, the ability to influence others, and most importantly, character at the top and throughout the organization. Strategic Execution is the outcome of acquiring and applying the competencies of what drives human behavior — yours and your people.

The pace of change has created an environment where data is the lifeblood of business. Motere’s proprietary behavioral analyses defines important challenges, identifies opportunities, sets priorities, and helps leaders successfully compete globally.

Data is one thing — applying it is another. Through Dr. Long’s tools and strategies that are proven to enhance performance and develop leadership, your investment will move the needle in meaningful ways.  Improving leadership development and managing talent are top business priorities — but also are significant areas of weakness. The Center provides keynotes and workshops for top talent from recruits to the C-Suite.

Motere’s Center for Human Performance & Leadership meets the needs of leaders, producers and the organization by closing the gap between business priorities and performance by applying human capital data to its fullest. We take a deep dive into analytics about your leaders, managerial tendencies and organizational health to uncover new insights, connect the dots, and develop evidence-based action plans that deliver impactful returns. Our behavioral analyses are used to set leadership development priorities to produce a transformational impact on your most important business strategies.

We help companies grow by enhancing organizational and individual performance. Workshops are interactive and address key issues of Strategic Execution. The workshops are designed through the three building blocks of behavior change:

  • Superior Content
  • Practical Applications
  • Game Changing Feedback

Each workshop program is unique and share identical goals:

  • Improve individual performance
  • Help organizations grow
  • Create and preserve jobs

DESIGN THINKING

Ideas are the lifeblood of organizations. However, valuable resources are wasted when people fail to execute. Design Thinking  empowers leaders to transform their company into a place where the best ideas win, the best people win and the best organizations win.

Only 11% of companies experienced growth in the past decade and 85% of executives attribute growth shortfall to internal — not external — factors. Tailored  for C-Level executives, Design Thinking is interactive and addresses the psychological underpinnings that unlock consistent execution.  Participants identify the hidden dimensions of strategic failure, followed by leveraging data analytics that maximize organizational resources to increase the ROI on strategy. Executives evolve into Force Multipliers by learning change and consistency co-exist through three workshop modules:

  • The Analytics of Strategic Execution
  • Enhancing Personal  Leadership
  • Maximizing Organizational Performance

GOLD! MASTERING STRATEGIC EXECUTION

Featuring 17 Olympians who amassed 25 Olympic Gold Medals, GOLD! provides a systemic approach to enhancing individual and organizational performance. GOLD! furnishes the why and the how to manage risk through an empirical foundation of performance. The workshops break down execution into a series of steps and phases that improve outcomes through Olympic champion case studies. Olympians make special appearances and  presentations throughout the workshops.

RESULTS & RELATIONSHIPS

Strategy isn’t worth anything unless it’s communicated in a way that people can hear it, make sense of it and then execute it. In association with Dr. Tommy Thomas - president of Opposite Strengths, Inc - communication tools are applied daily to persuade, influence and navigate our professional and personal lives. Without question, they are absolutely critical to success. Dr. Thomas and Dr. Long  provide the skills executives require to get their point across, move their organizations forward and enhance strategic execution through three dynamics. Participants acquire the skills needed to effectively connect with others, spread confidence throughout the company and deliver a message that aligns the organization. We offer three workshops:

  • Building Relationships
  • Building Trust
  • Building Alignment

Individual Performance Workshops

image16

ELITE PRODUCERS

Those who are the best at what they do have one thought that enters their mind: Can I do it better? It is only when the best have reached the top that new possibilities arise. Elite Producers need additional, but elusive skills to make consistent excellence a reality. Applying a combination of group and individual instruction, the Elite Producers workshops leverage the inherent capital within participants. The interactive workshops draw on participants’ expertise to help create the curriculum and shape the workshops through a customized teaching method. No two workshops are alike because participants offer unique strengths and challenges coming from different industries, different experiences, different responsibilities. Participants feed off of each other, learning from the distinct differences and the unexpected commonalities.

image17

PATTERNS

A deeply introspective experience, the Patterns Workshop enable executives to identify and apply their unique personal high performance pattern. Instead of replicating a method that may have worked for someone else, the Patterns Workshop provides a process where participants learn how they work best across diverse situations while applying Execution IQ. Participants leave with guidelines that are personal, non-disruptive, produce fast results and apply to a broad range of performance challenges and opportunities.

image18

WORKFORCE MOBILIZATION

All leaders have a vision, but communicating exactly what you want to the right people in the right way sets the path for success -  or failure. Mastering public speaking is an essential leadership skill, but first and foremost it's a performance. From the front row all the way to the back, engaging an audience intellectually and emotionally requires authenticity. Your performance on stage determines how fast and what direction your people go.

Leadership Workshops

image19

LEADERSHIP SERIES

Growth Centered Leadership is an increasingly important topic, yet mostly misunderstood. Leadership, in this context, is the ability to enhance strategic execution through useful change. Growth Centered Leaders provide the backbone. They move the needle. They move the mean by leading it. The workshops provide skills to lead organizations to new levels of productivity and gain market share. Leaders acquire the skills to leverage people’s strengths to meet the needs of the organization to experience growth.

image20

EMERGING LEADERS

Designed for High Potentials and Hot Recruits expected to move into successively important leadership roles, Motere applies a unique parallel teaching method to four career developmental stages by coordinating executive development with organizational initiatives. Classroom and experiential learning empowers participants to create a leadership brand that sets an organization apart.

THE NATURE OF THINGS

The Center's capstone program, this workshop addresses in a time where people are over-managed and under-lead, organizational life exhibits a natural quality where things happen under the first wave of consciousness regardless of the industry. Participants receive a complimentary copy of Motere’s Organizational Health Evaluation, which measures managerial capability for the three primary areas of organizational health.  Organizational health is an output of four components of organizational life.

  • The Nature of Work
  • The Nature of Leadership
  • The Nature of Innovation

Executive Golf Workshops

"It's more than golf. A lot more."

image22

Controlling your mind and using it properly separate people from the competition, be it on a golf course or in a boardroom. Consistent execution is more dependent on a person’s beliefs, on how effectively a person makes decisions and how effectively that person thinks than talent. High performers have a sense of commitment in everything they do, whether it’s playing golf or running a business. They approach ventures with principles and passion.

image23

It's the moment before teeing off knowing you made the right decision. It’s watching the ball soar and land where you planned. It's calling the right shot and being handsomely rewarded for it. It's the sound of silence as you sink putt after putt. It's the conversations that follow, from private moments with your partner to hearty laughter with the group. It’s about confidence. It’s about commitment. It’s about focus. Welcome to your never to be forgotten golf experience through Motere Consulting.

image24

Expanding and sharpening strategic execution skills is only the beginning. It’s about results and relationships. Motere's Executive Golf Workshops are part of a comprehensive strategy to grow your business.

  • Reward your most valued clients
  • Recognize your most productive employees
  • Close your most promising prospects

Accomplish all these objectives by spending three days at a five-star resort while acquiring first class, cutting edge instruction emphasizing the most important facet of business — Strategic Execution.

"You'll change your game. You'll change your business. You may even change your life."

“Steve is ahead of the competition right now. His combination of behavioral  analyses, golf psychology tools and game planning is far superior than what’s being offered to the corporate market. Whether your goal is to break 70 or 100, Steve’s workshop will help you on the course and in your business.”

Dr. Bob Rotella - Author, Golf is Not a Game of Perfect

“The fact that we won our first 54-hole  tournament as a team and had our first Air Force Academy individual player win a tournament can be attributed to, in great part, the time Dr. Long spent with my team. Overall, our team performance improved by over 20 strokes per tournament and team leadership improved significantly.”

Gene Miranda, Golf Hall of Fame Member

“After attending Steve’s workshop, I played in my club’s match and beat my handicap by six strokes! And we won the match! His course management strategies have also helped my business. Steve’s workshop is well worth the time and money.”

Joe Bencivenga, Rail USA

SPORTS

Quality Control Programs

image30

Most games are lost, not won. The purpose of the Quality Control Programs is to decrease the likelihood of losing games and force opponents to win games. Although Motere has worked along a spectrum of sports, we specialize in football. Football processes have characteristics that can be measured, analyzed, controlled and improved. Our focus is placed on measuring, controlling and improving the educational and psychological processes, which have inherent variability that can be evaluated by statistical methods. Our results include:

  • +13 Points in Offensive Scoring
  • - 5 Points in Scoring Defense
  • 18 Points/Game Differential Improvement
  • Over 4 Wins/Season Improvement

The only sustainable source of competitive advantage is a team’s ability to learn faster than its competitors. Along with standard quality control tools, coaches and players  function from a common educational framework, a consistent structure of skills through our model that is measured through a valid and reliable psychological instrument, which has been proven to produce consistent high performance. As a result, coaching staffs acquire a system of best practices. Motere’s Quality Control Programs establish a clear and concise statement of the aims and skills, and the embodiment of what it means to be a “smart team.”  Dr. Long has played, coached and consulted with 26 world, national and conference championship teams. He has helped developed over 30 All-American and All-Conference athletes along with four Conference Players of the Year, a Heisman Trophy finalist and an NFL MVP. The University of Utah named Dr. Long as one of North America's top applied performance psychologists.
